Since the budgies chew on everything, I am always a bit sceptical about bought cage cleaners as I am not sure how toxic they really are.
However, it is quite easy to make a suitable cleaner yourself.
Ingredients
- Spray bottle
- 250ml water
- 1 tsp baking soda
The advantages of the sodium bicarbonate detergent:
- non-toxic and even edible (= component of baking powder)
- good cleaning effect
- has an antibacterial and fungicidal effect
- neutralizes odors
- also suitable for cleaning fresh feed
